GBS chosen to participate in Traveler's Championship Birdies for Charity
For one amazing week in June, Connecticut welcomes the PGA Tour to the TPC River Highlands in Cromwell.
The Greater Bridgeport Symphony is thrilled to announce that it is among the Connecticut non-profit organizations to join a fundraising partnership with the June 18-24, 2012, Travelers Championship Birdies for Charity program.
Through Sunday, June 24, 2012, you may make a per-birdie donation to the Greater Bridgeport Symphony through the Travelers or GBS websites. The PGA professional golfers are expected to make 1500 – 2000 birdies during the 2011 Championship. For example, a 1-cent per birdie pledge with1800 birdies is $18.00. You also may make a flat rate donation, for example, $25, $50, or $100.
You also have the opportunity to enter the "Guess the Birdie Sweepstakes". One guess is permitted per donor. The winner (exact number of birdies or closest without going over the total) will receive a $1000 cash gift card as well as a $500 donation to their organization. Other prizes include 4 rounds of golf at TPC River Highlands and 2 weekly tickets to the 2012 Ryder Cup. Guesses may be made through 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 19, 2012.

All proceeds from this program will be allocated to support the mission of the Greater Bridgeport Symphony to celebrate, educate, inspire and provide excellence in musical programming in the Greater Bridgeport Community. In order to fulfill that mission, fundraising is a necessary responsibility for the Symphony Board. Because concert ticket sales provide only 25%of the GBS operating budget, the success of this and other fundraising events are critical to the financial viability of the GBS.
Please forward this e-mail to your friends, family, and other Symphony supporters. The GBS is a 501(c)(3) organization.
