Madeleine Bouissou began playing cello at nine years old at the Suzuki School in Westport, CT. After one year, she began studying with Lois Errante in Wilton, CT. Music became more and more important in her life and four years later she auditioned for Juilliard Pre-College to study under Minhye Clara Kim. She was accepted into the 2009-10 year and has been studying at Juilliard ever since. Madeleine has performed as a soloist performing Popper's Hungarian Rhapsody with the Western Connecticut Youth Orchestra (WCYO) and the Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra (RSO) in 2009, Elgar Cello Concerto in e minor with the American Chamber Orchestra and the WCYO in 2011, and Haydn Cello Concerto in D Major with the RSO in 2011. According to the News Times, her performance of the Haydn showed a "refined musicality as she played with a clear, singing tone and fine intonation". She has attended Bowdoin International Music Festival for the summers of 2009 and 2010 studying with Amir Eldan and Peter Howard and Meadowmount School of Music in the summer of 2011 with Hans Jorgen Jensen. She has also attended the Chamber Music Institute for Young Musicians under Asya Meshberg for numerous summers.
