Nicole Kogan is a piano student of Erika Schroth at the Neighborhood Music School (NMS) in New Haven. Since beginning her piano studies 7 years ago, Nicole has received piano performance awards including 1st prize in the 2011 Victor Normal Concerto Competition of the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Youth Orchestra, 1st prize in 2010 Neighborhood Music School Concerto Competition, 1st prize in the 2010 Renee B. Fisher Piano competition, 2nd prize in 2010 American Protégé International Piano and Strings competition, Neighborhood Music School Junior Division Performance Prize in 2008, and the 2007 Connecticut State Music Teachers Association New Haven Chapter Piano Competition.
In 2011, Nicole performed the Mendelssohn Piano Concerto in D minor as a soloist with the Greater New Haven Concert Orchestra. In 2012 she will perform as soloist with the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Youth Orchestra. In 2011, Nicole performed the Mendelssohn D minor piano trio New Haven's Woolsey Hall, in a program titled Resilient People, Inspiring Voices. In 2010, Nicole performed the Barber Tango at New York's Carnegie Hall. In 2009 Nicole performed on the harpsichord and piano in the Wanda Landowska Tribute Festivalin Salisbury, Connecticut after being selected by audition from among pianists New England region. In addition, she has performed in concerts and fundraisers at various venues throughout Connecticut, including Yale Divinity School, the Unitarian Society of New Haven, Thornton Wilder Hall in Hamden and Hopkins School, and Neighborhood Music School, among others.
As a chamber musician Nicole has performed in piano/string duos, trios and quartets, and has been a regular participant in the Elm City ChamberFest summer program, where she also performed excerpts from Aaron Copland's Rodeo with the Elm City ChamberFest orchestra. She has recently received the Grace A. Feldman Award for EnsembleExcellence at Neighborhood Music School.
In addition, Nicole is a chorister at the Hopkins School Concert Choir.
